Practice Merger and Federation

Locality Update - November 2018

The six Newton Abbot practices continue to work together collaboratively to support each other with projects and changes required within Primary Care, idea sharing, best practice and recommending successful developments to each other. This helps us all provide a broad range of high quality and responsive services to our patients and the wider healthcare community. There are no immediate plans to formalise this in a merger.

Locality Update - September 2016

You may recall that in December 2015 the six practices in the Newton Abbot locality, including ourselves, announced their intention to work together with a view to developing a plan to merge.
However, this process has proved to be more complex than we anticipated, leading us to reflect on our merger plans.
As we all know, General Practice generally is changing, and there is a strong commitment between the local practices to work more closely together as the challenges and opportunities arise, for the benefit of our patients and the healthcare community, but it is not clear at this point whether this will lead to a full merger.
The collaborative work we have done in the past year has been hugely beneficial, and we are excited by the prospect of continuing to share ideas and resources. We aim to extract the best from each practice as we move forward so we can face the future together and support each other to provide the best possible care for patients in the Newton Abbot area.
